Renting in the Southern French Alps means skiing in the sunshine. The sector covers the Hautes-Alpes and the Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, from the Dévoluy to the Mercantour by way of the Champsaur, the Embrunais, the Écrins and the Queyras. The climate plays a big part here: plenty of sunshine, dry air, and snow that is often cold despite the latitude.
On this page, you book directly with the owner or agency, with no commission and no booking fees. For the same property and the same dates, the price difference compared with the big platforms ranges from 15 to 40%.
Quality chalets and apartments for every budget.
The climate, first of all: more sunshine and drier air in the south, which affects the snow quality as much as the comfort on a terrace. Ski areas there are smaller on average and the resorts closer to villages lived in all year round. Rental prices are generally more affordable than in the big ski areas of the north.
The Dévoluy and the Champsaur in the north of the Hautes-Alpes, the Briançonnais and the Queyras in the east along the Italian border, the Embrunais and the Ubaye around Lake Serre-Ponçon, the Écrins in the centre and the Mercantour further south. Each has its own character, its own architecture and its own relationship with the sun.
It is a two-season region. Large lakes, cycling passes, high-level hiking in the Écrins and the Queyras, white water: summer here is as well organised as winter, and rentals are often cheaper.
You contact the owner or agency directly from the property listing and agree together on the dates, the price and the terms. No intermediary takes a commission: the price shown is the price set by the owner or agency.
