Chalet L'Otavalo

Staying in the rustic Chalet L'Otavalo, you can enjoy the joys of rural life and everyday farm life. However, you are only 1 km from the charming village of Manigod, where you will find a restaurant offering take-away food, a shop selling local specialities and products, a popular bakery and a cosy café.

The accommodation is on the first floor of this charming renovated farmhouse. The owner's brother lives in a basement apartment with his own access. The owners live in a modern chalet opposite the Otavalo chalet, and rent another apartment on the farm. It is a small family business.

Most of the year, cows graze in the field across the road, and holidaymakers can watch the milking in the family farmhouse near the Otavalo chalet. The milk is then used to make the famous Reblochon cheese. There are also chickens and donkeys on the farm. Children will enjoy playing table football, the trampoline and the swings. They will also have plenty of space to run around and exercise in the fresh air.

On either side of the property you will find sheltered terraces where you can barbecue and dine, or enjoy a soak in the Jacuzzi. The front balcony, adorned with a long vine and rosebush, offers a magnificent view of the Aravis mountain range.
The property

The Otavalo chalet can accommodate eight people. The owners have recently renovated it to bring the whole living space together on one level.

The accommodation comprises three double bedrooms and a small bunk room for two children. One of the double bedrooms has a small en-suite shower room. There is also a separate bathroom and two separate WCs.

The large space dedicated to the kitchen and dining room is very convivial. You will enjoy cooking and eating together. The living room, which extends the entire length of the chalet, is also equipped with a large table. In this room you can spend warm evenings in comfortable sofas by the wood-burning stove, watching a film or planning your next day in the mountains.

The two sheltered terraces on either side of the chalet provide additional space for barbecue evenings, outdoor dining and perhaps a moment of relaxation in the Jacuzzi with its stunning mountain views. On the front balcony of the chalet there is a long vine and rose bush. From here you can enjoy the panoramic view of the Aravis mountain range.

In our opinion, Chalet L'Otavalo is the ideal place for families or groups who want a change of pace from their daily routine and want to take their time enjoying nature, while having the amenities of the village not far from the property.
The area

Chalet L'Otavalo is only 10 minutes from the Manigod slopes of the La Clusaz ski area (at an altitude of 1,500m) and offers free parking. The ski bus stops just 600 metres from the chalet.

The many beginner ski runs will allow novices to consolidate their skills and gain confidence, while experienced skiers will have access to over 200km of runs and 95 lifts in the La Clusaz and Grand Bornand areas.

Cross-country skiers will find a plethora of trails nearby on the Beauregard plateau. Non-skiers will not be bored and will be able to take advantage of the ice rink and the cinema in La Clusaz. They can also go sledding, go on snowshoeing trips, dog sledding or horse-drawn carriage rides.
In the summer, there is no shortage of activities when you stay at the Otavalo chalet. There are many walking and hiking trails to choose from, ranging from long hikes in the mountains to more accessible walks on the plateaus. You can also take the ski lifts to the summits and then descend at your own pace.

In this property, children will enjoy the joys of life on the farm. In the adventure parks of Thônes and Grand Bornand, the whole family can practice accrobranche. Finally, if you like golf, you can play on the magnificent green located on the shores of Lake Annecy.

If you are looking for thrilling activities, you can try paragliding, canyoning, climbing, via ferrata, mountain biking or white water rafting. And this is just a glimpse of the multitude of activities available just a few kilometres from Manigod.

Please note that the owner's brother lives in an apartment in the basement of the chalet. This apartment is totally independent as is the access to it, and his presence will not impact on your privacy. The owners have kept the original low ceilings and small windows typical of farmhouses of that time.
