Chalet Tolar in Chinaillon, Grand Bornand is very spacious and therefore ideal for families or large groups on a mountain holiday with young children. This property formerly known as Chalet Étoile is a ten minute walk from the heart of the village, where you will find a wide range of shops and restaurants as well as the ski lifts. Please note that the ski shuttle regularly serves the stop 75m from your door.

IMPORTANT: the property welcomes pets. However, an additional non-refundable fee of 100 euros will be charged on arrival if you bring your pet.

One of the special features of Chalet Tolar is the large flat garden, which is rare in the mountains! It is equipped with a Jacuzzi and will offer you beautiful views. Be careful if you are staying with young children though, the bank between the garden and the river is steep.
About the property

The spacious Tolar chalet sleeps 14 people. The main accommodation is spread over two levels.

The main living area is on the ground floor. Here you will find three comfortable sofas for cosy evenings around the wood-burning stove. A large table will allow you to have dinner together. This level also includes a fully equipped kitchen with a bar where you can have your breakfasts, and a very practical office space.

A large bedroom, with sofa, TV, en-suite bathroom and shower and separate WC are located on this level. A cloakroom with ski boot dryer and plenty of storage space is also available.

The other bedrooms are on the first level where you can access the balcony to enjoy the spectacular mountain views. The main bedroom has a king size bed, dressing room and en-suite bathroom.

This level has three further bedrooms. One double with access to the balcony and two large family suites. One with a double bed and twin beds, and the other with a double bed and two single beds, each isolated in a curtained cabin. A magical space for young children. There is also a separate shower room and toilet.

The basement of Chalet Tolar is not finished, but there is a laundry room and an area with a table tennis table.

This chalet has the Cool for Kids label. You are sure to find all the necessary equipment for babies and young children, toys, books and games. Le Grand Bornand has the Famille Plus label, which means that there are plenty of activities and entertainment for children.
The area

The chalet is 1km from the Chinaillon ski lift. The shuttle bus passes every 15 minutes 75 m from the chalet. Two stops will take you to the slopes.

With your Aravis ski pass, you have access to all the resorts of Lake Annecy (Le Grand Bornand, La Clusaz and Manigod), that is to say more than 200 km of pistes. Closer still, you will find a superb sledge run and a cross-country ski run. Beginners can go to the Evo Nordic Park (a circuit with a wide variety of terrain), while snowboarders will prefer the snowpark.

Not skiing? Go ice-skating in Le Grand Bornand or La Clusaz, swim in one of the two heated swimming pools (indoor or outdoor) in La Clusaz, open all year round. Try snowshoeing, sledging, sleigh rides or dog sledding.

In the evening, relax in the chalet, soak in the Jacuzzi and watch the snow fall.
In summer, explore the surrounding network of hiking and mountain bike trails. The Chinaillon tourist office will give you a map depending on the activity. The Col de la Colombière, which is often on the route of the Tour de France, is not far away. Finally, the Grand Bornand aquatic complex offers a grassy area for picnics and coffee.

For thrill seekers, there is rock climbing, via ferrata trails, accrobranche courses, canyoning, white water rafting and paragliding. These activities are available nearby.

The medieval city of Annecy is worth a day's visit, whatever the season. Discover its shops, restaurants, art galleries, museums and of course its lake, reputed to be the cleanest in Europe, where you can practice various water sports, swimming, cycling or simply relax on its beaches.

In August, Le Grand Bornand hosts the International Children's Festival. A week of puppet shows, circus and workshops, ending with a splendid fireworks display. You are in the heart of Reblochon country, so don't forget to stock up on cheese at a local farm or market!
