Morzine

Situated in the middle of the Chablais region, half way between Evian and Chamonix, Morzine has developed at the confluent of the 2 Dranses rather like a dash between the two slopes of the valley. This duality characterises Morzine at numerous levels.
This Haute Savoyard village has lost nothing of its soul of yesteryear and yet has managed to meet the requirements of modern day tourism. The Parc des Sports, with its swimming pool and ice rink, Dérêches farm and equestrian centre, blends in harmoniously with the surrounding dwellings of local slate workers, potters and cheese makers, in a superb natural environment which has been successfully preserved.
A link too between two different ways of perceiving the mountains in summer . In Morzine, holidays can be both peaceful and relaxing but also stimulating and sporty. Take your pick from a walk in the forest, a head-spinning white water descent, a tour to discover local architectural heritage or a flight on a paraglider. Here it is easy to pass from one activity to another ! A mountain bike trek over the 380 kilometres of marked tracks could even end up with a siesta in an Alpine pasture !

The itinaries are infinite. As are the activities! Morzine has been able to blend tradition with
modernity, as well as the most athletic with the most relaxed. As you might expect, ski is King : Alpine and crooss-country skiing, ski touring, telemark and snowboarding. But it leaves plenty of room for hikes, snow raquets excursion, and sledge trips.
The cordial atmosphere of the small hotels and quaint restaurants makes Morzine even more picturesque. Here, the nights also offer an incredible variety : wild and crazy in the 'after-ski' bars, more on the cozy and intimate side in one of the gourmet restaurants, where the chef prepares traditional dishes with an edge.
Indeed Morzine has found the formula which allows its personality to blossom : its authentic, mountain personality, harsh but welcoming has been tempered by a certain nonchalance inherited from the gentle shores of Lake Geneva and nearby Switzerland.
