At 850 m high, Chambon-sur-Lac stretches to the foot of Chaudefour valley.This natural protected site is classified Nature Reserve since 1991 to preserve the interest of its fauna (wild sheep, chamois, marmots, butterflies and other protected species), of its flora and of its remarkable landscapes (in particular the impressive monoliths of Crête du Coq and Dent de la Rancune), and also its mineral springs.
