A listed resort with a direct link to one of the finest sets of skiing slopes in France.
Located in the heart of the Haut-Giffre valley, just a forty-five minute drive from Geneva, at the foot of the majestic Criou and not far from the Fer à Cheval cirque, the last bastion of the limestone Alps, the Haute-Savoie resort of Samoëns embodies the authentic mountain town par excellence.
It has been able to preserve its architecture while faced with major tourist trade development projects past and present.
The area around Samoëns is set apart above all by its exceptionally rich heritage, but also by the fact that at an altitude of 720 m, the town and its nine hamlets are active and busy all year round. As well as recharging their batteries and getting away from it all, holidaymakers come here because there are so many things to do.
With its family plus" label awarded by Ski France, Samoëns is an ideal destination for families, because it provides so many "inclusive" services and products to make their stay that much simpler and more pleasant.
Although Samoëns is very popular with adepts of cocooning and dilettante mountaineers, it is nonetheless a resort that provides plenty of sports activities. In the heart of the Grand Massif ski slopes, that include the resorts of Morillon, Flaine, Sixt Fer à Cheval and Les Carroz, it features 265 km of pistes, at altitudes ranging from 900 to 2,500 m, in one of the finest sectors of the Alps. To add to its superb scenery, the region gets plenty of snow throughout the winter season, thanks to its geographical situation. Its ski slopes are as suitable for beginners as they are for seasoned winter sports enthusiasts of all types, and they are every bit as good as many bigger resorts... "
