Sallanches is a small town famous as the gateway to the Mont-Blanc massif.
Situated in Haute Savoie (Upper Savoy) department high in the French Alps, the town is surrounded by mountains, lakes and rivers. Mont-Blanc dominates the landscape here but picturesque castle-like Aigulle Rouge mountain towering above Sallanches is very impressive too. The Chamonix valley which starts here can be considered everything between the town and the Swiss border.
Why Sallanches? There are several reasons which bring vacationers to the city.
It is a good home base when you want to explore several places in Haute Savoie - convenient location, low prices and good service will help to build a memorable trip. Sallanches is a great place for a daytrip also. When it's snowing in Megève or raining in Chamonix than exploring Sallanches can fill the time slot. Old town center is filled with charming 19th-century buildings. Sallanches is family friendly and a good place for shopping.
